Danny Diaz

Director of Strength & Conditioning

Athletics has played a large role in Danny’s life.  Growing up, Danny played high level soccer and football. During his football career, Danny enjoyed many successes, including provincial and national championships at the high school level, and positions with the Edmonton Huskies (CJFL) and the University of Alberta (CIS).  Danny has won numerous awards recognizing him for his individual achievements in athletics. He is grateful for the role that athletics has played in his life. As such, he finds working with athletes particularly rewarding. Danny coached with the Edmonton Huskies (CJFL) as a Receiver Coach.

Danny graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta, majoring in Sports Performance & Physical Activity.  His other certifications include:

  • CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) from CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology)
  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) from the NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association)

Danny has trained a variety of people including: amateur, professional, and Olympic athletes, as well as the general fitness population.  No matter what your ability level, Danny is here to help you achieve your fitness and performance goals.

Serhat Yayla

Director of Sports Performance

Serhat played professional soccer in the Turkish Super League for 5 years. He was also part of Turkey national team for the 2002 World Cup Finals.

After his soccer career ended Serhat completed his bachelor degree in Sport Performance and Coaching. He also attended a program in 
Human Kinetics, his other certifications include:

  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) from the NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association)
  • FMS Level 1 &2 (Functional Movement Screens lvl 1 & 2) from FMS (Functional Movement Systems)
  • UEFA-B Licence Soccer Coach 

During his master’s program Serhat had a chance to work as an assistant instructor, as well as a primary instructor for undergrad courses at University of Alberta. He has worked with Golden Bears Soccer as an assistant coach and with the Green and Gold Soccer Academy. Serhat was also an Assistant Strength Coach at the High Performance Training and Research Centre at the U of A.

Serhat is very passionate about coaching and has worked with a wide range of athletes from the professional soccer, football and hockey player to Olympic weightlifters and power lifters, to the general population that want to learn and grow. Serhat is here to make sure you reach your next level.

Sliver Delorey

Chief Performance Coach

Sliver Delorey is a former member of the Edmonton Oilers training staff from 1989- 2007. Even though he was originally hired as an Equipment Manager, being surrounded by the best Strength and Conditioning minds in the Edmonton area made it easy to get the right type of guidance to set him on the path into the Health and Fitness world and eventually was involved in Off-Season Training with the team under the guidance of their fitness consultant, Daryl Duke and Dean of Physical Education and Recreation / President of the Sport Medicine Council of Canada, Dr. Art Quinney.

Since leaving the Oilers he has worked in the Middle East, at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar and upon returning to Edmonton he has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and runs an annual charity event named THE DUKER (named after his mentor from the Edmonton Oilers), to benefit SPECIAL OLYMPICS.

Sliver Delorey is a National Strength and Conditioning Association – Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) with Olympic Lifting Certifications and has over 15 years experience in the Sports and Fitness world.

Dylan Stanton

Performance Coach

Strength and Conditioning has always been a passion of Dylans. At a young age he fell in love with the sport of Football and would continue to play for well over a decade. As an athlete I was very fortunate to be trained among some of the best trainers in the business. It was clear in my early teens that helping others achieve their fitness goals was something that I wanted to do.

Dylan is a graduate of the NAIT Personal Fitness Training program (PFT).  He is also learning new things to enhance the experience of his clientele.  His other certifications include:

  • NSCA – CPT (National Strength and Conditioning Association – Certified Personal Trainer)

Dylan counts himself very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a large verity of clientele, He has worked with doctors, surgeons, all the way to high level athletes. As a trainer Dylan strives to provide an optimal service for each client that he works with, and if there is one thing he knows for sure, it is that hard work pays off. He is a student to his career and is continually trying better himself and each individual he works with.

Rachel Korpany

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Rachel is a former collegiate basketball player, after she went onto weightlifting and working with performance swim groups of various ages. 

Rachel is a graduate from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education.  She is also a graduate from the University of Edinburgh with a Masters Degree (MSc) in Strength and Conditioning. Her Other Certifications include:

  • CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) from CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology)
  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) from the NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association)
  • NCCP – Technical Class 1 Olympic Weightlifting

During her time in the UK, Rachel worked closely with Sport Scotland and the University Performance teams on athlete movement screens and movement abilities.  She specializes in athlete development emphasizing strength, power, and plyometrics. 

Education plays a large part in her training philosophy, as she is continuously learning and developing as a coach.  Rachel has also worked with club, national, and international athletes in various sports, firefighter recruits leading up to testing, as well as EMS and RCMP personnel and the general population.  Rachel will help you achieve your goals in sport and general fitness.

Dominic Oppong

Performance Coach

Growing up in Toronto Dominic participated in many sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, track and rugby.  He pursued his passion of becoming a professional soccer athlete when he signed with Buffalo City in 2009 of the NPSL and later with FC Edmonton in 2011.  Dominic made his Team Canada Debut in 2005.

Dominic completed his Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the University of Buffalo in 2010.  His other Certifications include:

  • PTS (Personal Trainer Specialist) from Canfit Pro

Aspiring to increase the performance of his clients, Dominic is continually studying new movements and techniques that may be applied for an individual to meet their goal.  Even though researching new training methods has a personal advantage, he is always excited to share it with his clients.  With the knowledge he has from his athletic background, he likes to put a big focus on mental stength.  Dominic will help you achieve your fitness goals.

Karl Gellert

Performance Coach

Growing up Karl played basketball, wanting to be in better shape, as well as stronger and faster, he started lifting in his teens. Karl has been fascinated with lifting weights for the majority of his adult life.  He later discovered the work of Joe Defranco, which was his first proper introduction into strength and conditioning. He was instantly hooked, reading and watching anything he could get his hands on.

Karl completed his Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion at St. Lawrence College as well as obtained his:

  • CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) from CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology)

He loves helping people who were in the same position as him, especially working on strength and training foundations for beginners and younger athletes.  He is also extremely passionate about helping the general population, especially those in particular who may be past their “athletic” prime, but still want to be as strong, mobile and injury-free as possible.

In the years he’s been training, Karl has been extremely fortunate to have worked with a large variety of clients, ranging from football, hockey and basketball players, beginners, middle age men and women as well as the aging population. Regardless of your experience, if your goal is to get stronger, healthier and improve your performance, Karl is constantly learning and improving on techniques to get you to your goal.
